The quantity and scale of catastrophic events around the world is growing and changing. This creates a global demand for people who can understand and utilize catastrophe models. The mission of the Certified Extreme Event Modeler™ (CEEM) Program is to be a center of excellence for catastrophe risk management training and education.
This 5-day intensive program for catastrophe modelers gives you insight into the science behind natural catastrophes and a behind-the-scenes look at how catastrophe models are developed and validated. We give you hands-on training in our software and how it can be used to explore the assumptions underlying the models, understand uncertainty, and interpret model results. After completing the program requirements, you become a Certified Extreme Event Modeler.
The virtual program consists of everything the in-person program offers but can be taken remotely. With shorter live sessions and more on-demand material, the Virtual program can be adapted to your remote schedule. After completing the program requirements, you become a Certified Extreme Event Modeler.
Virtual attendees will attend the same weeklong program as in-person attendees, only through Microsoft Teams or similar online meeting tools. Sessions are held live each day between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Virtual attendees will have access to the same course materials and exercises, and work in breakout rooms from the main presentation with other virtual attendees. To add additional flexibility, all sessions are recorded and shared for viewing later.
The content for both the virtual and in-person attendees is the same.
The tuition for the virtual CEEM is reduced from the price of the in-person program.
Yes. Attendees who complete the program will have the opportunity to sit for both the Core and Elective exams and earn the CEEM designation. There will be an exam sitting held virtually on the Friday of the program week and follow up opportunities are also available both in-person and virtually.
